Overview - During our relentless search for quality antique metronomes we occasionally come across interesting and attractive antiques or collectibles that appeal to us and hopefully to viewers of this website. We are selective in our choices and try to offer quality pre-1950 antiquities at affordable prices, we try to research each item before listing so that as much information for every item is available in the description. The majority of listings will be of English origin unless stated and completely original to the best of our knowledge. We also endeavor to list all flaws, marks, chips or damage in any form so that there are no surprises on delivery. Lignum Vitae Antique
Lawn Bowl Reworks
Below you will find a new enterprise for
the website and something that we have been advertising on popular
auction websites for a number of years. We select high quality
grains and defined wood patterns on aged Lignum Vitae English
Antique Lawn Bowls and rework the generally worn, tired and damaged
exteriors to reveal the true beauty of one of the hardest wearing,
most attractive and rarest wood types ever manufactured. Generally
for display as stand alone shelf or cabinet objects, these can also
be used as paper weights, book ends or door stops, or gifted to
anybody who appreciates fine workmanship and quality materials, long
before the age of plastic.
These items are hand finished through several sanding and lapping stages
of abrasion and a gloss finish is achieved using nothing other than
natural oils from the wood, hand polishing, lots of patience and a
keen eye for detail.
A very light protective coat of Renaissance Wax is added for protection.

shipping, payments and quality of service. We do not run a basket facility on this website,
we prefer Paypal payments where possible via our invoice which we send out on
confirmation that you would like to proceed with a purchase. We will place items on hold for a maximum of 7 days after which time we reserve the right to re-offer the item for sale.

We guarantee our metronomes to be original and pre-1940, please bear in
mind the majority of metronomes listed are in excess of 80+ years old and please read the
items description carefully before placing an order. All of our units mechanisms are
completely dis-assembled, ultrasonically cleaned and degreased to remove lamp /
coal fire oil, dirt and dust and old oiling attempts. We also occasionally rework the wood panels on select
metronomes, this will be reflected in items description.
Antique metronomes shown and sold from this website should not be relied upon to
supply an accurate musical training tempo or as a reliable time keeping device.
While all units are offered in full working order, they are not calibrated to
exacting modern day digital standards. All faults and flaws are highlighted on
the metronomes description page.
Guaranteed to be original, in working order, we offer collectable antique
metronomes without the lottery of potential issues from auction websites.
